The Hebrew Bible/Old Testament subject area focuses on the texts and traditions of the Hebrew Bible, history of interpretation, text criticism and current methods and approaches to the study of the Hebrew Bible in conversation with the Humanities and the Social Sciences.
In addition to the texts of the Hebrew Bible, the subject area has strengths in the Dead Sea Scrolls, Pseudepigrapha and Apocrypha as well as the Septuagint and the Peshitta. Scholars in Biblical Studies work closely with colleagues in the Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies; Faculties of Oriental Studies and Classics.
